You’re moving into a house with home security alarms
A new home may come with an existing security system. All the components function well, are placed in the right places, and are ready to go. In this instance, just turn on the phone to call and establish a new service contract. A Vivint installer will still come out to ensure there are no usability issues, and they could offer suggestions on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a quick appointment, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without worrying about any new alarms and cameras -- unless you add on.
The old owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time set-up fee to make your life a snap. If the owners are moving to an apartment complex or smaller home, turning over the Vivint contract might be an addendum of the sale.
You want to move and take your existing components with you
You might want to bring along your favorite home security components with you to a new place when you move. It should be fairly easy to transfer, as many components are wireless. You can take down each alarm or camera yourself or use a professional installer to take care of everything. Then an expert will set up the same features -- and any smart items you want to add -- in the new home. And your home security contract will remain the same.
